Wanna tame the desert and make it your playground or negotiate a mighty river on boat? Rajasthan is planning to gatecrash into the league of international adventure tourism destinations by offering a cruise through river Chambal and a desert safari on automobiles in Jaisalmer. The off-road adventures would complement hot-air ballooning sport which has already been introduced in Jaipur.
The desert safari is expected to materialise soon, the tourism officials said. This would bring India in the reckoning of the Middle-East countries and the US where adventure sports in the desert are quite common.

The desert safari is being introduced in Jaisalmer where the participants would be taken on a ride through the sand dunes on four-wheeled automobiles,? principal secretary tourism, Meera Meherishi said. This would include dune-driving and dune-bashing.

"We want to thank you formally for your extraordinary service during our trip to India. We want to note just a few of the special services you provided to us- finding an outstanding driver; giving personal attention to our requests to see some “real” Indian homes and hear some outstanding classical music; touching base with us at every stop to make sure things were going well; our itinerary when our plans changed halfway through the trip."
